Bonjour,

It was great to see everyone performing today in the Band Concert. I'm so impressed at how far everyone has come with their instrumetns. You all sounded great!

Continue working on the Cahier de lecture, Sciences and Sciences Humaines assignments. Also, your second reading response is due for English (and you should have 2/3 of your novel read).

Please bring a memory stick with your Science and Socials saved on it (if you're typing it) so you can work on your projects in the lab tomorrow. At this point, you should have the written portion of your Social Studies project completed (including the intro and the conclusion). We will spend time this week working on finishing up the title page, ligne de temps, bibliography, table of contents and extra activities that you can include with your report.

A demain,

Mme Couture

Bonjour tout le monde,

Devoirs:

Science: The science lab report for our electricity workshop is due on Monday. Please complete over the weekend if you did not finish in class today (don't forget to include a detailed analysis of your findings...describe what you learned/discovered as you completed each activity/experiment using precise vocabulary)

**return agenda forms so we can enter the draw for a pizza lunch**
--you do not have to order an agenda, but must return the completed form--

Ongoing assignments that can be worked on at home:

Sciences Humaines: contineu working on project (in order to be "on track" for the June 7th due date, the good copy of each written section should be complete --either typed or neatly hand written--with labeled images as well as both the introduction and the conclusion)

Science: students have had a chance to talk with their group members about what work needs to be completed. The due date has been extended to June 14th...students should be working on the written portion of the assignment and/or the modele/diagram portion. Refer to the detailed hand-out which includes a detailed description of the assignment criteria)

Maths: review transformations (difference between rotation, reflection and translation). There will be review next week and a quiz probably on Thursday.

Cahier de lecture: continue working on this reading/writing assignment that is due on June 9th (if you can have 4 of the 5 writing activities completed for Monday you are right on track)

Bonjour,

Devoirs:

Maths: complete "rotation" questions and draw cartesian plan on front and back of blank dotted paper that was distributed

Sciences: organize notes/information (ensure that you have completed the research for your portion of the project)

Sciences Humaines: continue working on typing the good copy of the different sections of the project (some students may need to add details and examples if their notes/rough drafts were lacking information/details/examples). Bring drafts and saved work to school on a memory stick. SAVE WORK ON YOUR HARD DRIVES AS BACK UP!

Bonjour tout le monde,

It's great to see so many students well on their way to completing the Sciences Humaines project! Well done to all those who are working effectively to complete a detailed, accurate and creative report!

Devoirs:

Continue working on Science, Social Stuides and the Cahier de lecture. Everyone should have now completed all written sections including the introduction and the conclusion. By the end of this week, the good copies of these sections should also be complete (typed or hand written with images) so that the final week can be spent on the timeline, map, table of contents, bibliography, title page and bonus activities.

We will have two full blocks in the computer lab tomorrow so if you are working on typing your project at home, please bring what you have completed on a memory stick so that you cna continue working in the lab. Alternately, you can email your project to yourself as an attachment.

** Some students need dates and descriptions of historical events for their timeline. Please bring this information with you tomorrow.

Mme Couture

Congratulations Advisory 42 for winning the Eco-Challenge of bringing re-usable water bottles to school!

** Reminder: No School Friday (Pro-D) or Monday (Victoria Day)
Devoirs:

Sciences: transfer your notes on extreme environments to either paragraphs or short definitions/descriptions with sub-headings (depending on your topic there may be a specific format that makes more sense to use). For example, you may decide to list a number of different instruments used when studying volcanoes and then include a description of what the instrument's function is beside it (OR) if you are using a report as your method of presentation, you may write an essay style format with an intro followed by paragraph descriptions of each instrument used.

Sciences Humaines: Everyone should be finished their paragraphs (good copies) as well as the intro and conclusion for next week (many are choosing to type the good copy). Ideally, you will also have chosen the images you wish to add to each section (some are choosing to insert these images and captions into their word document directly before printing and others are finding images and then cutting and pasting them onto their printed good copies...be aware that it can be difficult to adjust sizing/formatting if you print and then cut/paste your images)

Cahier de lecture: continue working on your reading journal. You should be finished at least 3 of the 5 activities by Tuesday.

Passe une très bonne fin de semaine!

Bonjour,

It was great to see many students getting a lot of work completed today during the time we spent in the computer lab. I encourage everyone to keep working a little bit every day at home on Science, Social Studies and French (cahier de lecture).

A reminder to some students to bring the fee for the electricity workshop.

Also, please try to bring a memory stick to school on Tuesday (with your saved socials and science documents)so you work both here and at home on your projects. Another option, if you can't get a memory stick, is to email the documents to yourself as attachments and then you can continue working on them here.

Sciences Humaines: continue working on typing the good copy (or writing out the good copy neatly). Also, if you are typing, please save your work to a memory stick so you can continue working on the good copy at school during our computer time (e.g. two blocks tomorrow will be in the lab).

Sciences: Your research should be complete at this point so you can being writing out the different sections of your research project on extreme environments.

Cahier de lecture: continue reading in French and working on the 5 written activities that are due June 9th.

Bonjour,

I just wanted to start by recognizing how hard everyone worked today! We had an amazingly productive peer editing session for Sciences Humaines and everyone worked very hard on their cahier de lecture after lunch (Bravo!!!!)

Devoirs:

Sciences Humaines: For those who have not yet completed the written portion of their projects, it is imperative to complete this part of the assignment over the weekend! Also, if you are typing your good copy, please save to a memory stick and bring to school as I will be giving you time in the computer lab to type and add images/format.

Sciences: For those who need to use the internet for some research or if you took a book home, please continue taking notes as we need to work on the written portion of the project on extreme environments starting next week.

Cahier de lecture: everyone should have two pages finished (of the five) by the middle of next week. Please ensure that you have at least one entirely finished by Monday. Everyone received the article "Pas de niqabs au Québec" to summarize earlier this week and has had time in class to work on it.

Maths: Complete review on finding area of rectangular prisms. Quiz on Tuesday.

**Reminder to give parents notice form about Electricity workshop**

Bonjour,

Devoirs:

Maths: Ordre des Opérations (review). Please use a separate piece of paper to show all work. Complete first page (#1a,c,e,g,h; #2 a,c,e,g,h)

Sciences Humaines: Continue working on your paragraphs. Please do a thorough job on your first draft(spell check on your own, use precise vocabulary, check verb conjugation). We will have a peer editing session on Friday so try to have as much completed by then as possible so you can get feedback on your draft (you will have some time in class to work on this assignment but I STRONGLY encourage you to work hard on this at home as well). Ideally, you will already have made a number of corrections on your own before sharing with your peers.

Sciences: Group project on extreme environments is due June 2nd. We will continue to have research time in class this week.

Français: Cahier de lecture due June 9th. Continue working on this all month (try to have one written activity completed per week so you can finish all five by the due date). Links to french articles are on the Blog (right margin). Also, consult the sample of "Texte dans une Page" that we did as a class on Friday as this gives you a good idea of what I'm looking for in terms of detail and accuracy.

Bonjour,

All parent drivers from the last two field trips should be receiving a signed thank-you card from Advisory 42 that was sent home today.

Devoirs:

Maths: please carefully review finding the area and perimeter/circumference of rectangles, squares, triangles and circles...quiz on Monday! A review sheet was sent home with examples of each (including the formulas!)

Cahier de lecture: continue reading in French and working on your cahier de lecture for the month of May. Use the examples of "Texte dans une page" that we completed today as a class to help you when you work on your own.

Sciences Humaines: your paragraphs should all be completed by the 15th at the latest. We will have an editing session on the 13th or 14th so the more you have completed by then, the more input and help you will have with the editing process.

Sciences: your group project on extreme environments is due on June 2nd...you will continue to have time in class to research, but take some time at home to look things up on the internet if you need to.

Passes une bonne fin de semaine!

le 6 avril 2010

Bonjour,

Devoirs:

Maths: Quiz Monday on area/perimeter/circumference...please complete the review on finding the area and circumference of circles.

Sciences Humaines: It is very important to continue working on writing each section of your report. Here is a priority list of what needs to be completed:

1. notes (should be finished--some students needed to add more detail/examples as of last week)

2. paragraphs/mini essays (for each topic--eg. climate and geographie; religion; government; daily life; history etc. you will be transforming your notes into paragraph format. For each section, you should have a short introduction followed by a detailed explanation of the topic including examples. You will usually have a short conclusion after your explanation).

3. images (after you have completed the written portion on your topics, you can add images/graphs that compliment the topic and add depth to your written work. Please label all images/graphs)

4. introducion and conclusion (when you know what information is in your report, you can complete your intro and conclusion) Everyone should still have the example I gave of an intro and a conclusion when we did our project on Afghanistan.

5. Table of contents, bibligraphy, title page, history timeline, map

6. extra activities (word searches, recipes, fun facts...)

7. Put it all together

**Everyone should be part way through stage 2 (writing out your notes into paragraph format). Your goal should be to have all written work completed ---good copy--- by May 15th at the latest.

Bonjour,

Devoirs:

Maths: please find the perimeter and area of the shapes we reviewed today

Français: several students still need to submit this assignment

Sciences Humaines: continue working on the written portions of the report which is due on June 7th. In order to complete this assignment it is imperative to spend some time each day completing the different sections (there are multiple sections--refer to the hand-out which contains a list of each topic to be covered).

Example of what you can do at home: Take your notes on religion and create your "Religion" page (notes to paragraph format). This may take 1-3 evenings.

Suggestion: Divide the work you have to do over the next few weeks and as you complete each step, check it off your to do list. Always be aware of what you have completed and what you still need to finish so you don't get caught in late May with a huge amount of work to do.
