Bonjour tout le monde,

I just wanted to commend everyone who worked so hard this week to get a number of drafts completed. There is a lot on the go right now and I really appreciate seeing so many students bring their completed written work to class so we can work effectively on peer editing as a group.

Devoirs:

Maths: There are a few questions to complete (nombres entiers or integers). Please show me the answers using our drawing method as it concretely demonstrates what is happening in each equation and will help with the concept of "creating" and using zeros to solve problems.

Sciences Humaines: The goal is to complete the good copy of your contribution to the research project for next Wednesday.

Français: The second draft of your oral presenation (including the introduction and conclusion) is due on Tuesday.

Français: Please have chapters 1-2 of your novel read and complete your activity for Wed. lit circle discussion.

Try to do as much as you can on the weekend as we have another busy week ahead of us (including Student-led conferences).

Devoirs in order of importance:

1. Sciences Humaines: first draft of your topic is due tomorrow (should be written neatly in paragraph form).

***Please think about what your editors will be looking for and include these elements in your writing (e.g. opening sentence introducing topic, details and supporting examples, descriptive and precise vocabulary, grammar conventions followed--ie. verbs, spelling, french vocabulary, full sentences, correct punctuation etc., concluding sentence, appropriate linking words)***

2. Français: Presentation orale second draft (due Tuesday). This draft will now include an introduction and a conclusion.

3. Français: Cercles littéraire. Please have the first two chapters read and your activity (e.g. Directeur de Discussion, Constructeur de connexion, etc.) completed for Wednesday's discussion.

Bonjour tout le monde,

I just want to emphasize how important it is to bring all necessary materials to class so that working effectively on projects during class time can happen. This includes research and planning that needs to be completed at home as well as written drafts that need to be finished outside of class time.

Devoirs:

Français: the rough draft of the French oral presentation (just the middle section that covers the 2-3 main subtopics you will be covering on your topic) is due tomorrow. Please carefully edit your work as someone else will be reading it and needs to be able to understand and follow your ideas.

Sciences Humaines: rough draft of your topic is due on Friday. The length should be 1-2 pages double spaced depending on your topic. Please carefully edit your work (ie. grammar, french vocabulary, sentence structure, logical flow of ideas, cover all key elements)

Maths: review integers and the concept of creating zero with positive and negative numbers

Anglais: bring all necessary materials for your project

Mme Couture

Français: lit. circels. Everyone has the first two chapters of their novel to read and one activity sheet to complete for next Wednesday's discussion.

Sciences Humaines: Afghanistan report is due Febuary 11th. Many students are still missing information on their topic. At this point, you need to be researching information at home (please bring information/notes to class as you will have time at school to work on your draft).

When researching information ask yourself: what are the key/essential facts relating to my topic ? (think about the 5 w's particularly the "what" or "qu'est-ce que c'est")

Bonjour,

Devoirs:

Maths: Unit test tomorrow! Look over your math review that we corrected today. Here is another practise question using percentages as well as the questions we did in class:

Sara makes 80$ taking care of cats. She spends 60% of her money at the arcade. A sweater that she wants to buy costs $24.50 (taxes included). Does she have enough money left to buy the sweater? Explain your answer (and show all work)

Paul makes 40$ working at a bike shop. He spends 40% of his money on Salmon Kings tickets. At the game, he sees a Salmon Kings t-shirt that costs $18,50 (taxes included). Does he have enough money left to buy the shirt? Explain your answer and show all work.

Français: Good copy of personal narrative is due on Friday. Please edit your work very carefully and think about SHOWING (through description and colourful language) rather than telling.

*also, think about your oral presentation topic (must have chosen it by Friday)

Personal Narrative: good copy is due on Friday at the latest. Second drafts were edited today...there will be some time in class to work on the good copy and title page.

Note: I have added links (top right corner of Blog) to online dictionnaires (not translators!) that might help students who need to look up vocabulary while writing French assignments. Remember...if you do not spell the word correctly in English, you won't find the word in French!
